School No. 179 is one of the most well-known math schools in Moscow that is headed by the famous Soviet and Russian mathematician and winner of the Paul ErdÅ‘s Award for his outstanding contribution to the development of math education Nikolay Konstantinov. Konstantinov developed a methodology for teaching the fundamental aspects of higher mathematics to high school students (the so-called “it is all in the tasks”). Each task contains minimum theoretic information and a lot of problems. By solving these problems, they come to independently understanding the underlying mathematical analysis.
School No. 179 currently implements training programs in three fields: mathematics, biology and mathematics, and engineering and technology. Education in the school’s engineering and technology fields begins from the 7th grade, in mathematics from the 7th, 8th or 9th grade, and in biology and mathematics from the 9th grade.
The school is located in the heart of Moscow, not far from the Kremlin and Red Square
